Friday was exhausting, I hit the Disney Legends panel and went immediately to queue up for the Pixar and Disney animation panel. The first legend was Oprah Winfrey and she was elegant. Next was Jack Kirby, I will admit that I got emotional, he is my favorite artist and it was nice that he got recognition for is work. Stan Lee related a story when he was young and wanting to save up money for the Art of Walt Disney book. It was great that Stan was there considering recent events. Everything went great until they showed the tribute to Carrie Fisher. There goes the water works! Mark Hamill followed and it was nice that they noted his voice work as the Joker. Last was Julie Taymor who told a story about casting Lion King in South Africa. They cast African and Afrikaans, traditional enemies, actors in the role of best friends! Could there be a tear emerging? Lastly, it was Whoopi Goldberg who mentioned playing the goddess Califia in the Golden Dreams attraction since taken down, shame! Then, there was a Broadway performance of Lion King!

The Pixar and Disney Animation panel was more waiting, still there were some who waited and were never seated, some of them got grey armbands for the Live Action panel. John Lasseter came out, a fun host, and showed the Space clip from Disneytoons, the third animation studio. It had two jets that are outflown by an SR-71 Blackbird with cartoony eyes. Lasseter then talked about Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. He brought on Josh Gad followed by Kristen Bell, Lasseter joked about Frozen 2’s title; Thawed, Frozen Dinner, Frozen Assets. Then, there was Incredibles 2, There as a clip of fashion celebrities commenting on Edna Mode, Lasseter brought in director Brad Bird. Bird explained that the Incredibles sequel had a new home for the Parr family. Mr. Incredible still didn’t know his infant son, Jack Jack, has powers. He falls asleep watching the telly, Jack Jack sees a masked bandit on tv, turns and sees a raccoon. So a short, fierce battle with Jack Jack that was hilarious. Bird welcomed the cast; Craig T. Nelson (Mr. Incredible), Holly Hunter (Elasti Girl), Sarah Vowell (Violet), and Samuel L. Jackson (Frozone). The part of Dash was recast with Huck Milner since they didn’t want to go with an older Dash.

Next was Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, great title, and a scene was shown of the internet’s guide, Yesss. She is voiced by Taraji P. Henson. She shows Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) to the Oh My Disney! site. Vanellope sneaks away for the chance to have fun with the Disney princesses. These are all voiced by the original actresses. Vanellope finds that the princesses all have issues like Snow White’s corrective glasses and they like her fashion and make sweaters for themselves. They are interrupted by C-3PO (Anthony Daniels)! Lasseter brought in the princess voice actresses; Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Merida (Kelly Macdonald), Mulan (Ming-Na Wen), Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Belle (Paige O’Hara), Pocahontas (Irene Bedard), and Ariel (Jodi Benson).

Then, Coco closed out the panel. Clips were shown of young Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez) stealing the guitar. Then, his hijinks in the underworld office, where they find his grand mother, Abuelita (Renee Victor) who gives him the key to return to the mortal world if he promises to stay away from music. Of course, he snatches the guitar again and is taken instantly back. It finished with a performance of the film’s song, “Remember Me” by Benjamin Bratt (Ernesto de la Cruz) along with a number of folkloric dancers who danced up the aisles of the convention. An incredible laminated poster was given to the people at the panel.
