Jacqueline Pearce, 74, passed away September 3, 2018 of lung cancer at her home in Lancashire. Pearce made her name in everything from Hammer Horror to science fiction to drama. She is best remembered for her roles of the well dressed villain Servalan in Blake’s 7 and as the bloodthirsty alien Chessene opposite Colin Baker’s 7th Doctor and Patrick Troughton’s 2nd Doctor in the episode, “The Two Doctors”.

Her friend, John Ainsworth announced her passing, stating:

“She was outrageous, she was very honest and very straightforward, which didn’t always go down very well, but you knew where you were with her.

“She liked a glass of champagne and liked everyone to have a good time with her, and of course she was a brilliant actress and everyone who worked with her remembered her very fondly.”

Her first big roles were in the Hammer films: Plague of Zombies and The Reptile, both released in 1966 and had been filmed simultaneously on the same locations. She worked on several other films, such as, Sky West and Crooked (known as Gypsy Girl in the US); Carry On: Don’t Lose Your Head; Don’t Raise the Bridge, Lower the River; White Mischief; How to Get Ahead in Advertising;0 and Princess Caraboo. She also worked on the children’s programs, Dark Season and Moondial for the BBC.

She is best remembered for her role of Servalan on Terry Nation’s creation of Blake’s 7 as the villainous Supreme Commander and later President of the Terran Federation. Intended as only a one shot character, Pearce’s performance made her so popular that she survived all four series.

In the last few years, she has kept busy working with Big Finish, lending her voice to various projects and characters opposite John Hurt’s War Doctor and Paul McGann’s 8th Doctor. She also loaned her voice as Admiral Mettna to the webcast series, Death Comes to Time.

Her Doctor Who co-star Colin Baker Tweeted:

Big Finish Productions Tweeted:

Our hearts go out to her friends and family. She will be fondly remembered, and feared as Supreme Commander and the only woman who could terrorize the galaxy while wearing those ridiculous costumes and sky high heels.
